BIO
Hi there, This is where you find who is really the person behind the lens. In photography ones work speaks for itself but believe me, it's a long road from the initial contact until the final product. It is very important to look at the person behind the lens for this is the person you have to rely on to 1. Be there on time on your "big day" 2. Be actually prepared for it! 3. Deliver a satisfactory product in a timely manner. Technical knowledge, experience and talent play a small role in this; it is the personality that counts! I believe it is not a question of nature vs. nurture but rather nature plus nurture that makes you who you are. (yeah yeah I know ..I'm soooo smart!! ;) Hmm, may be if this photography stuff doesn't work out for me I should become a philosopher!! Not a bad way of making a living! :) But don't worry, now, I'm not gonna get into philosophy, religion or politics any further. I'm just smoothly transitioning into my bio here. Stick with me ;) So, here it goes I was born as very young! (yup, I'm a smart-ass too! hehe But I guess you've figured that one out by now! ;) but now, seriously, here it goes!) I was born in Bosnia - at that time Yugoslavia. I'm the second and the youngest son of a lovely couple. My mother, a nurse, and my father, a phys. ed. teacher, have raised me with good old-fashioned but simple values. I grew up a happy child. I actually had real friends - not Sponge Bob, Dora, Transformers or Picachew. We would actually go outside to play (imagine that!) and used our imagination to turn a piece of wood into any toy we desired! After a tiring day outside in the fresh air a glass of milk and Tom and Jerry before bed, what more can a child ask for? (weeeellll, I guess the new Nintendo Wii would have been nice but that's all right, we had the ATARI later on hehe) In 1992 the war broke out in Yugoslavia and in the next few years managed to bring out the worst in people. The country split into 3 separate countries - Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. We were lucky and managed to get out unharmed. After staying with my grandparents for about eight months(10 people in a small apartment!) We ended up in Berlin, Germany as war refugees. Times were tough. We have had left everything behind in Bosnia. We didn't speak the language, nor did we know the system in the new country - but we managed somehow. Six years went by - I've had learned the language, made new friends, got used to my new life there - that is when we got a letter from the government that the war in Bosnia was over and that we technical are not "war refugees" any more! thus, we got to go! (Ok this is getting much longer then I initially planed on writing and probably more then you are willing to read hehe) So long story short, we ended up here in Connecticut, USA. Where we've been for the past ten years now. We had to start from scratch again! I have learned the new language, I have graduated HS in two years (I did transfer some credits from Germany however - nut such a genius afterall! :) I have graduated college in four years - go Huskies!! (four years in college! That too is an accomplishment these days hehe) My parents own their own house (did so in only 3 years after we moved here!) And I, myself, have been an owner for the past 3 years. I guess, my point is that I've been through some tough but character building times. I've learned to share, compromise and communicate with people. But, what's even more important I've learned that you can wake up one morning and lose everything you've had but also, that all that can be replaced with time. As for my family, there is only one thing we will never be able to replace in our lives and that is our photographs that we've left behind! Memories are your most prized possessions! Make them as often as you can! Be yourself in them! And safe keep them! We don't know what life might brings for us in the future but it cant take away the past. Unfortunately, the past won't exist for long if you fail to record it.
EXPERIANCE
I'm afraid my biography doesn't give you much insides into my technical knowledge of photography - but that's what this here is for. :) There is actually not much to say about that. I did always loved photography but no, I don't come from a long line of photographers. And no, my father didn't hand me a camera while I was still an embryo. Sorry to disappoint. ;) I also didn't always know I wanted to be a photographer. I kinda stumbled into it while I was in college. I start shooting film at first. I took some classes - mainly B&W photography. Got into the lab and got my hand, or should I say lungs, dirty. Played around with the chemicals and light. Later on I couldn't afford to maintain a lab at home so I switched to digital. I'm really glad I did. As much fun as it is shooting film and developing it, digital photography opens a door to a whole different world. Not only am I able to take a larger number of pictures and therefor have a larger selection to work with but I'm also able to correct and experiment with my exposure right there on the spot! And that is mainly how I've learned! I consider myself a "self-thought" photographer. Most of the time I would read about something then grab a camera and try it out, experiment with it and find new ways to use it and/or combine it with what I already know. I was very lucky to have taken these classes while I was in school for they allowed me to understand the basics and build upon them. I have also shadowed other photographers on their shoots, asked - sometimes way too many hehe - questions, and tried out the things I've learned later on at home. People say you learn as long as you live and I agree! I discover new things almost daily. And I keep adding to my arsenal of knowledge all the time. I'm very thankful that other photographers have shared their knowledge with me - be it in person, in forums or in educational DVD's. Therefor, I'm always willing to share tings I have learned with the time. That means that if you are a newbie photographer and you've stumbled across my page please don't hesitate to shoot me and e-mail and ask questions. I'll be more then happy to answer them any time!
